Hymermobil B-Class wins the “Golden Steering Wheel 2006”
Bad Waldsee, 9 November 2006
The Hymermobil B-Class is the winner of the Golden Steering Wheel 2006, award presented in the special category of motorhomes by vote of the readers of the German Sunday newspaper Bild am Sonntag (BamS).
In the event at Ullsteinhalle of the Axel Springer publishing house in Berlin on 8 November 2006, attended by some 400 prominent representatives of the business and political communities, the media and sports, the award was presented to Erwin Hymer for “his” Hymermobil B-Class . The automotive prize coveted in the international arena was first sponsored by publisher
Axel Springer in 1976 and is awarded annually to outstanding new arrivals on the automotive market. Awards have gone to outstanding vehicles in the category of motorhomes since 2004.
For the fifth time in succession, the eleven million readers of Bild am Sonntag were called upon to take part in the poll and decide the winners in the special categories of compact vans and motorhomes. 203,055 readers cast their vote in the category of motorhomes, putting the Hymermobil B-Class at first place (24 percent) well ahead of the field. This major accolade underlines Hymer – the European motorhome market leader – as a trendsetter and segment benchmark for innovation in engineering and contemporary design.
The Hymer B-Class , which has been fully revamped due to a new chassis, creates a visual impact with excellent, automotive styling and a wealth of technical innovations. The large windscreen with integrated wipers, adhesively embedded in the front section, enhances the exceptional aerodynamic characteristics of the bodywork as a whole and ensures ideal visibility. The quality of the patented PUAL wall and roof elements has been upgraded yet further and provides ideal insulation and stability for the vehicles. Headlamps exclusively designed in cooperation with Hella fulfil automotive quality standards in function and style. The range encompasses 24 B-Class models in all, which come with the new Fiat Ducato or the new Mercedes Sprinter chassis, depending on model.
Besides the technical features and bodywork quality, the wide range of innovative furnishings and fittings has also been instrumental in making the Hymer B-Class Europe’s undisputed, best-selling integrated motorhome. All the appointments are of the highest standard and the availability of so-called style collections enables the customer to compose a personalised, premium-quality decor in terms of fabric and design, despite series production.
The internationally recognised Golden Steering Wheel 2006 award is a further milestone in the incredible success story of this integrated motorhome range from the house of Hymer. In the spring this range already took first place for the 19th time in a row (!) in the Motorhome of the Year poll conducted among the readers of one of Europe’s major caravaning journals. Furthermore the Hymer B-Class has meanwhile advanced to the status of a “German standard”, epitomising motorhomes as Kleenex does for tissues or Persil does for washing powder.
