Great Britain: Caravan Design Award 2005

Hymer-Nova 435 LS – the single Continental prize-winner

Bad Waldsee, 01st April 2005

On February 24, 2005, Bob Black, Chairman of The Caravan Club announced the Caravan Design Awards 2005, with the second place in the category of “caravans with fixed double bed” going to the Hymer-Nova 435 LS. A point especially worthy of note is that Hymer was the only Continental prize-winner in the entire competition.

The entries were divided into four categories: two-bed caravans retailing at 14,000 GBP and under, family caravans retailing at 14,000 GBP and under, all caravans over 14,000 GBP and all caravans with fixed double bed. In addition there was a prize for innovation.

The competition in its tenth year attracted a record number of 50 product entries. Each caravan representing the latest model generation was subjected to close inspection against a 37-point checklist by a panel made up of four judges and two design judges. Items examined included the seating comfort, the headroom, the kitchen design, storage space, switches, the electrical system, service and warranty conditions, as well as general safety.

The impetus behind this competition held by The Caravan Club is on the one hand to give its around 800,000 members a high degree of security in forthcoming purchase decisions. On the other hand, it is intended to act as an incentive for manufacturers to keep developing their products to attain the highest standards possible.
