Bringing together all of HYMER’s expertise: Hymer GmbH & Co. KG to present the Hymermobil B-Class SupremeLine

25/05/2017
HYMER is crowning the motorhome model range that’s enjoyed industry-wide success with a new generation of its B-Class: the Hymermobil B-Class SupremeLine combines the benefits of all its predecessors with all the experience from 60 years of building leisure vehicles. Hymer GmbH & Co. KG will be presenting the Hymermobil B-SL to the public for the very first time at the Caravan Salon 2017 in Düsseldorf. The long-established company has specially developed a new and one-of-a-kind SLC chassis for this vehicle featuring a high double floor. Thanks to its low dead weight, large payload reserves are guaranteed and the vehicle has a lower centre of gravity, resulting in excellent handling characteristics. The new, luxury-class Hymermobil also boasts outstanding credentials in terms of comfort, quality and design.

Hymer GmbH & Co. KG is presenting yet another product highlight at the Caravan Salon 2017 in Düsseldorf in the company’s 60th anniversary year: the Hymermobil B-Class SupremeLine. Since the B-Class was launched in 1981, this model range has stood for extremely comfortable travel and high levels of safety, which was certified as early as 1982 when it was awarded the GS mark. Within a few years, the B-Class became a “byword for integrated motorhomes” and it hasn’t yet lost any of its exclusive charm. The readers’ poll conducted by the trade magazine promobil also shows how popular it has been over the decades, right through to the present day. The B-Class has come out on top in this poll 28 times in a row. The next chapter is now being added to this success story: the new Hymermobil B-SL.

Innovative and unique: the SLC chassis of the Hymermobil B-SL

Many changes have been made to the chassis of the new generation of the popular model range in particular. A new, unique chassis design with independent wheel suspension, innovative chassis technology and an extremely light weight provides the foundation for the new model range – it has been given the name SLC. “There was a particular focus on lightweight construction when the Hymermobil B-SL was being designed. We want to offer our customers the highest possible payload reserves in the 4.5-ton class as well. This is something we’ve achieved once again this time around thanks to our advanced technologies, such as the new chassis and the Woodwelding® method. Measuring 7.79 metres in length, the new B-SL 704 boasts a mass in running order of just 3,390 kilos, for example. This means the payload reserves total an impressive 1,110 kilos,” explains Jochen Hein, Managing Director of Hymer GmbH & Co. KG. The chassis also has a lower centre of gravity and a larger double floor, which doesn’t have an impact on either the overall height or the headroom inside the vehicle. Similar to a basement, all the technical components are now completely hidden in the new double floor: plumbing and wiring, tanks, all the electronics and even the heater. Completely closed off and with a smooth surface, the new undercarriage increases the clearance, which significantly improves the aerodynamics, insulation and soundproofing. The double floor in the new Hymermobil B-SL features a spacious through-loading compartment, which stretches across the entire width of the vehicle, can be loaded conveniently from outside and is also accessible from inside through a cellar compartment. In total, this creates up to 998 litres of storage space, which is roughly equivalent to an extra 400 percent capacity compared to similar layouts with a conventional chassis and double floor.

A modern body with extra safety features

The manufacturer from Bad Waldsee tweaked its tried-and-tested PUAL technology for the bodywork of Hymer GmbH & Co. KG’s new premium flagship: “By further developing our patented PUAL bodywork, we’re offering our customers a body shell design that’s widely acclaimed in the industry. The bodywork is completely wood-free and without thermal bridges due to the aluminium outer and inner skin, as well as the bonding of the individual components – a technology borrowed from the aviation industry. “The new B-SL therefore guarantees excellent insulation values, stability and durability,” explains Karsten Berg, Sales Manager for Hymer GmbH & Co. KG. The roof can also be fitted with an extra GRP layer, ensuring absolute hail resistance. Safety was always an important issue in the B-Class model range, and it has also been further improved in the new Hymermobil B-SL: new rearview mirrors with a larger field of vision minimise the number of blind spots and the panoramic windscreen provides you with all-round visibility at the wheel. ESP including Traction+ helps the driver when they encounter difficult terrain and keeps the B-Class firmly on the road. Thanks to the independent wheel suspension of the new chassis and the lower centre of gravity, the Hymermobil B-SL grips the road perfectly. As a result, the cornering ability is also much improved, making journeys in the new vehicle even safer.

Modern and elegant, both inside and out

The redesigned front section provides the vehicle with an entirely new and unique face, without neglecting the brand’s characteristic design. The classic HYMER LED headlights combined with the striking radiator grille and chrome trim ensure a distinctive design. The impressive rear section made of GRP featuring double-skin insulation and the harmonious lines are also new for this class. The familiar LED hybrid rear lights with the integrated HYMER logo are further accentuated by stylish chrome highlights.

The interior of the B-SL is characterised by the ergonomic design of the living area, which offers plenty of freedom of movement, as well as comfort and convenience. There’s a choice of two furniture finishes: Velvet Ash and Grand Oak. While the light colour Grand Oak combined with the white overhead lockers provides the vehicle with a modern look, the dark wood finish Velvet Ash with its fine grain and soft matt look gives the new B-SL an elegant appearance. The tables and counters with the Oriental surface finish are visually reminiscent of precious marble and also lend the living area an exclusive appearance.

A 32" TV is integrated in the backrest of the seating area and can be extended and retracted electrically. This makes the living area appear to be more open and spacious. The standard LED ambient lighting concept suffuses the vehicle with a pleasantly warm light. The rear wall, upholstered in stylish imitation leather, also looks its best at all times thanks to the indirect lighting. The HYMER comfort sleeping system with sprung mattress and 7-zone cold foam mattress ensures a peaceful and especially comfortable night’s sleep. The new bathroom is amazingly spacious and is equipped with a generously proportioned WC area as well as a particularly roomy shower cubicle with real glass doors. The floor-to-ceiling wardrobe is also integrated into the bathroom, meaning that the partition walls allow the interior to be split up into a bathroom with a dressing room, a bedroom and a living area. This creates a high degree of privacy and enables the Hymermobil B-SL to be transformed into a luxurious three-room apartment measuring just 7.79 metres in length.

The new Hymermobil B-SL will be available from dealers from September 2017 in the two layout variants 704 and 708.
