New layout for the next generation of vehicles: The Hymermobil B-Class ModernComfort 690 I and the HYMER B-Class ModernComfort 690 T

08/24/2018
Bad Waldsee, 24 August 2018 – Hymer GmbH & Co. KG unveiled the latest result of its intensive collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Vans in May at the Annual Press Conference in Bad Waldsee: the integrated and semi-integrated versions of the Hymermobil B-Class ModernComfort in the 580 and 680 layouts. At the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, the new 690 layout is being launched for the premium motorhomes that combine the Sprinter chassis cowl with the SLC chassis, which is a first for the industry. This layout boasts an abundance of storage space on board and echoes the clean and elegant lines of the B-MC in both its interior and exterior design. A height-adjustable queen-size bed is also included as standard. In addition, one other highlight of the semi-integrated model is the optional fold-down bed, which ensures a headroom of 1.90 metres under the bed, despite a vehicle height of under three metres.

“The new layout for the B-MC is a follow-up to our range of motorhomes based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. As a semi-integrated vehicle, the 690 layout is yet another model we offer that boasts a kerb weight of under 3.5 tons, despite measuring an impressive 7.39 metres in length,” says Christian Bauer, Managing Director of Hymer GmbH & Co. KG. Both of the ModernComfort models are characterised by their extremely lightweight bodywork with a GRP lightweight floor, the tried-and-tested HYMER PUAL technology, as well as the award-winning, weight-optimised SLC chassis. The vehicle chassis with the spacious double floor has ample room for all of the technical components, such as the electronics or heating system, and the fresh and waste water tanks are also easily accommodated. This does not affect either the overall height or the headroom, and the B-MC has a level floor throughout the interior. Thanks to the numerous assistance systems, such as Crosswind Assist and Active Brake Assist or DISTRONIC Active Distance Assist, a high level of safety and a smooth drive are also ensured.

Modern interior design for a generous feeling of space

One particular highlight of the new layout for both the integrated and semi-integrated models is the height-adjustable queen-size bed measuring 1.95 by 1.50 metres, which is included as standard. The two large wardrobes on the left and right side of the bed ensure you have plenty of storage space and feature handy storage compartments that are easy to reach from the bed for your bedtime reading material or glasses. An additional wardrobe is also integrated at the foot of the queen-size bed. The bathroom, which has been adapted to the queen-size bed, ensures that the bed is easy to access and is equipped with a spacious shower cubicle. The door to the washroom can be used as a partition, ensuring extra privacy when the interior of the vehicle is divided into two sections. The spacious living and dining area in the front section features a stylishly designed corner kitchen with large work surfaces. The modern and distinctive design of the interior and furniture with clean lines is accentuated by the ambient lighting on the overhead lockers and skirting, creating a homely and cosy atmosphere on board. Thanks to the optional extras, the ModernComfort can also be supplemented with customised features, such as a pull-out twin bed for the fold-down bed in the semi-integrated model, or a side seat for both versions.

Optional fold-down bed for the semi-integrated HYMER B-MC 690 T and 680 T

As an option, the B-MC 690 T can also be supplemented with a power-operated and infinitely-adjustable fold-down bed. As a result, it is the first semi-integrated vehicle in the industry with the Sprinter chassis cowl that has up to five berths, and all with a max. permitted laden mass of under 3.5 tons. The vehicle is still under three metres in overall height yet boasts a generous headroom of 1.90 metres under the bed. The adapted T-hood, which accommodates the fold-down bed, provides the vehicle with a distinctive appearance. The extraordinary concave design not only has an impact on the appearance of the exterior, however, but also ensures low fuel consumption thanks to its aerodynamic shape. Aside from the 690 layout, the optional fold-down bed is also available for the B-MC 680 T.

Streamlined exterior design with a touch of sporty elegance

The collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Vans, which is a first in the industry, is also influencing the external appearance of the vehicles, endowing the model range with a streamlined design. The exterior of the integrated Hymermobil echoes the lines of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, featuring optimally designed exposed edges. The visible black diffuser-style garage casing below the rear light moulding echoes the front design to create an overall effect of sporty elegance. With two garage doors on both sides, the rear garage is extremely easy to load and has a load-bearing capacity of up to 350 kilograms.

The 690 layout also features a large moped garage with a height of up to 1.15 metres and a width of 90 centimetres.

The Hymermobil B-Class ModernComfort featuring the new 690 layout will be available from dealers from the end of 2018.
