Which Motorhome is right for you?
Things you should keep in mind when buying a motorhome.
Several factors, such as the length, weight and other criteria, play an important role when buying a motorhome. Here you’ll find out what those are:
From S to XL – the Size of the Recreational Vehicle or Motorhome.
Motorhomes up to 6 metres in length are especially small, compact and manoeuvrable. With a small motorhome, there are benefits when looking for a parking space or booking ferry crossings, and when it comes to pitches or narrow passageways, for example. Depending on where you are planning to travel to, a manoeuvrable, small or compact motorhome may be the best choice. What’s more, there’s no need to sacrifice comfort and the number of people that can join you on your travels also varies. Anyone who likes travelling through the mountains on smaller back roads or through the centre of mountain villages should also take into consideration the vehicle width, because things can get very tight on bridges or in other spots. A small motorhome measuring up to 6 metres in length can also be used as a day-to-day vehicle, as it can almost compete with the dimensions of passenger cars thanks to its compact overall dimensions.
Small and compact motorhomes

Travel without any compromises but a great feeling of space is made possible by motorhomes up to 7.5 metres in length. You can travel in style with all the mod cons in our large motorhomes over 7.5 metres in length.
Really big motorhomes in the size XL – over a length of 7.50 metres – offer every conceivable comfort. When it comes to your travel supplies and luggage, there’s nothing you’ll have to do without. Everything that you need on the road can be stored in the spacious lockers, cabinets and storage spaces, which come in all shapes and sizes. You’ll find our spacious motorhomes over 7.50 metres in length in the following models:
The Vehicle Weight – Motorhomes under 3.5 t or from 3.5 to 7.5
With a motorhome weighing up to 3.5 t, you’ll be nippy on the road. A category B driving licence is required to drive one, and the vehicle is generally treated as a passenger car, without any restrictions. This is crucial, particularly when it comes to observing speed limits and traffic regulations, calculating toll fees and vehicle tax, as well as complying with testing periods and vehicle inspections.
Although you generally have a higher payload reserve in the “Medium Goods Vehicle” weight category with a max. permitted laden mass of 3.5 t to 7.5 t, a C1 driving licence is required to drive these motorhomes. Depending on the exact design of your dream vehicle, you’ll find both weight categories for most of our model ranges. Only the Hymermobil B-Class PremiumLine and Hymermobil StarLine motorhome model ranges are exclusively in the weight category of 3.5 t and over.
How many People are going on the trip: Number of Seats and Berths?
Before you start looking for the right vehicle, you need to work out the number of seats and berths you’ll need. How many passengers need a seat fitted with a seat belt? How many people will sleep in the vehicle? Depending on what the answers are, our motorhomes are suitable for 2 people, for 3, 4, 5 or even up to 6 people. On some models, there’s the option to increase the number of seats fitted with a 3-point belt. The number of berths is also flexible, for example, by converting the seating area into an additional sleeping area. This means that occasional trips with different numbers of people won’t be a problem.
What’s more, our motorhomes are available in various layouts with different bed sizes. It’s entirely up to you to choose between one large double bed as a rear transverse bed, Queen-size bed or fold-down bed, one bunk bed or a motorhome with single beds – either as twin beds in the rear or as a fold-down bed with twin bed function.
A semi-integrated or integrated Motorhome?
In semi-integrated motorhomes, the cab that belongs to the chassis is used. This means that the existing area for passengers is complemented by the high-quality living area. As a result, all the advantages of the basic vehicle are perfectly enhanced by mobile living.
Our semi-integrated motorhomes:
Hymermobil is the epitome of the integrated motorhome. In integrated motorhomes, the area for passengers is completely integrated into the vehicle, and therefore the living area as well. This creates a great feeling of space. The passenger and living areas are made of one single piece and form a single unit.
