Parental leave is travel time – as new parents through the Alps

When Lisa and Sven learn that they are having a child, it is clear that the precious time of the first few months should be used and celebrated with a journey together, in which a lot of time can be spent as a threesome. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, more and more orders from the wedding photographer couple are being postponed. But instead of burying one's head in the sand, it is decided to make the best of the situation and use this time to travel.

Maximal flexibel

Starting from Lake Constance, the four-week journey leads via Zurich, Lake Zug, Davos and the beautiful Flüela Pass, but first to St. Moritz. The wide mountain panoramas are a blessing after weeks in the apartment. Traveling in a motorhome is without a doubt the best solution for this time. You have maximum flexibility when reacting to travel warnings and you can be self-contained away from other travelers.

Through Switzerland on French beds

The HYMER T-Class S 695, which with a length of almost 7.4 m, its large French bed and the seating group that can be converted into a bed represents just the right balance between comfort, performance and size, is the mobile home of Lisa and Sven for 4 weeks. Compact enough to be able to cross borders without additional effort and suitable for steep mountain passes, it is just the right travel companion for the Alpine region.

On to Italy

From St. Moritz it goes over the equally scenic passes "Maloja" and "Julier" to Italy. On the serpentines of these very passes, the HYMER performs wonderfully and the view of the endless landscape takes Sven and Lisa's breath away again and again. The destination in Italy is no less spectacular: it goes to a place of longing for many and a place well known for wedding photographers - the dreamlike Lake Como.

Yoga on Lake Como

On the western shore of the lake, on the small and relaxed campsite "La Breva" in Dongo, the peace and the still fresh trinity is enjoyed. And what place could be nicer to take the first bath together in a lake with the little daughter? The HYMER T-Class S waits frugal in the shade under old olive trees for its next use andin the evening there is pizza from the highly recommended " PizzeriaRistorante La Lampara Dongo", which is enjoyed by candlelight in the HYMER.   • The HYMER goes everywhere

    The comfortable Sprinter base of the HYMER T-Class S easily masters all the climbs on the next stage and so it continues over the Gotthard Pass comfortably back to Switzerland and Germany. By the way, with the permissible total weight of 3.5t you can get through the neighboring countries without a heavy-duty charge (Switzerland) and without a GO-Box (Austria).

  • Independence and freedom to travel

    The 100 litre fresh water and greywater tanks of the HYMER T-Class S allow the small family to enjoy the independence of campsites on most travel days and to take care of themselves. This gives both young parents the freedom to concentrate entirely on their little daughter.

    The next stage leads to Austria, which inspires with further mountain panoramas. There, the Kaisergebirge extends and awaits with the Wilder Kaiser and the Tame Emperor with the Lower Emperor to the southeast. We continue through the Alps to the Berchtesgadener Land and Salzburger Land.

Being able to adapt the itinerary completely to the needs of our small family and at the same time react very flexibly to travel warnings was one of the biggest advantages of parental leave in a motorhome.

Of course, local specialities must also be tasted. But why order Kaiserschmarrn and Käsespätzle in the restaurant, if you have a HYMER kitchen available and can prepare the food fresh, because "Warmed up, only a goulash is good.". Five in the Black Forest

For the conclusion of the trip, Sven's children from his first marriage join them. The separations of the bedroom to bath and shower and then again from bath and shower to the rest of the vehicle also make traveling with five very pleasant. In the evening, the baby can be put to bed in the rear, while in front is still filled with laughter. Together, the family of five spends a few days in the HYMER T-Class S in the beautiful Black Forest in the area around Freiburg im Breisgau. On the Schauinsland, the holiday comes to an end with a fantastic view of the valley, group hikes and relaxing yoga sessions.
